The RetroHQ Jaguar GameDrive cartridge allows you to play the full back catalogue of Atari Jaguar games and homebrew directly from a memory card.

The Jaguar GameDrive has full support for all games and sizes of EEPROM (used to save game progress). The EEPROM contents are saved directly to the memory card along with your game, so everything is stored in one place.

You will need to provide a memory card (FAT or FAT32 formatted) and your own ROM images (JAG, J64, ROM, BIN, ABS) to play. A selection of freeware games are linked in the resources section below.

The latest firmware for the ORIGINAL Jaguar GameDrive (recognisable by a different label from the one above) can be found below. For the new style Jaguar GameDrive, please follow the onscreen instructions as you boot the cartridge to access firmware updates.

Hardware Compatibility

  • Atari Jaguar without Jaguar CD installed
  • EEPROM support for 128, 512 and 2048 byte EEPROMs
  • FAT16/32 formatted MMC compatible micro memory card
  • JagLink currently not supported

Software Compatibility

  • All retail games and homebrew working

Great piece of kit - can finally play all those Jag games on real hardware, which now go for absurd prices. The GD is worth it just to play home brews alone; a bootleg copy of Doom 2 for example, usually goes for about the game price as the GD on eBay! And with this little beauty you can play the entire Jag library with Jag CD support coming too.

Very easy to set up; just copy your backups onto the SD card and boot up, scan the barcode on screen with your phone or tablet (works on a CRT which I was surprised about) and download the latest firmware, pop the cart out the jag again to copy the firmware file onto the SD card and you are all set!

I can see I did well to jump right on this, these things are currently out of stock again after only been available about a week! My advice is treat yourself when the next batch is in - it makes so much more sense than attempting to collect for the Jaguar in 2021.

I’m over the moon that I finally managed to secure one. It’s one of the greatest flash carts and so easy to set up. The menu system is really impressive for an Atari Jaguar 64-bit system!
